I'm planning a trip to Las Vegas and will be driving my 2004 Nissan Altima that has 137,000 miles on it. Because of the high mileage, and fear of breakdown in the desert, I took it to Made in Japan for an inspection. I have been using Made in Japan for all my mechanical work on the Altima since I bought it in 2004. Phil Poe and his staff did a FREE 49 point inspection within 2 hours. Phil gave me a detailed review of the mechanical condition of the vehicle noting a few conditions (ie valve cover gasket that was leaking, loose engine mount, a nail in the tire which Phil repaired for free) but assured me that the items did not immediately need to be replaced and the vehicle was in sound mechanical condition. I appreciated Phil's honesty,and that he did not pressure me by implying that the stated items needed immediate replacement, which is something that I'm sure a dealer, based upon past experience with them, would have suggested I immediately do before leaving for Las Vegas the following week. I also take my other vehicles, a 2006 Chevy Duramax, and a 1999 Mercedes Benz SLK 230 Sport, to Made in Japan for service and have been very impressed with the service on them provided by Phil and his knowledgeable and professional staff. I would highly recommend Made in Japan for your vehicle maintenance or repair, as I feel that Phil and his staff provide that feeling of confidence, that your vehicle will be repaired in a honest and professional manner.

I had a 25 year relationship with another auto service provider. However, changes in management clearly changed their organizational culture to be more about generating income than providing the same quality of service I had been used to. I mentioned this to the person I first met at your facility because I was looking for a new service provider. He told me about your organizational culture and gave me a brochure to that effect. I asked for an estimate for 60,000 recommended servicing for my car. I hadn't shopped around after identifying your shop as one I would try based on Yelp recommendations, but the estimate seemed reasonable and I made an appointment and dropped off my car. When I went to pick up my vehicle, Phil mentioned that I had been given an incorrect estimate and that they provided services that should have cost more than the estimate. This perked up my ears because this was the type of thing that my former shop had begun doing. However, Phil said that while he regretted the mistake, he would abide by the estimate, even after I offered to split the difference. Although I don't know what the additional charges should have been, I did feel that the decision to provide the services offered in the estimate spoke well to your organizational culture. When I told my wife, she agreed that it appears that we may have found a good replacement for auto services. Phil was very friendly and helpful with his suggestions. He reported that there was a need for additional services and provided an estimate. I am double-checking to see if it would be covered by an Extended Warranty I purchased for the car, but if it is not covered, I most likely will return to your shop. A neighbor who had owned a shop told me that I could probably get a lower cost estimate if I shopped around, but I am looking for a service relationship for the long haul to receive fair and reliable services, rather than just a short-term savings.
