Service staff was friendly and timely with their service. Unfortunately their quoted charge to repair the damaged part was egregiously high. Jack Dane quoted me $1,152 to replace and install the liftgate actuator. I bought the actuator online for $140 removed the old actuator and installed the new one in 23 minutes. It was simply three screws and one plug. Works perfectly. I would give two stars but they didn't do any repair work so I will give three stars

Hi Rick, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I'm sorry we didn’t get the chance to speak further — I did reach out but didn’t hear back, and I would have appreciated the opportunity to discuss your concerns directly. At Jack Dane Auto Service, quality and reliability are at the core of everything we do. When we quote a repair, it’s based on using OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) parts — in this case, a Chrysler factory latch. The part alone accounts for a significant portion of the cost difference. Given that you were able to purchase yours for a fraction of the price we pay for a Chrysler one, I would guess it may have been a used or aftermarket part — possibly from a non-OEM manufacturer. That’s one of the questions I had hoped to clarify with you. Also, the work we quoted extended beyond simply swapping out the actuator. Our estimate included confirming system functionality using a diagnostic scan tool, specifically to check the three-position PID sensors that were originally failing. We also planned to inspect the alarm system, which was part of your initial concern. Our repairs come with a 3-year/36,000-mile warranty — triple the coverage offered by many dealerships — which reflects the time, parts, and diagnostic effort that go into ensuring the repair is done right. I understand it can be frustrating to see a large price difference, especially when a DIY repair seems quick and straightforward. But when we perform a repair, it includes not just parts and labor, but also the assurance that everything has been properly diagnosed, tested, and backed by a solid warranty. Thanks again for your feedback — it helps us continue to explain the value behind the service we provide. Best regards, Philip Poe Jack Dane Auto Service

Spent $600 and didn’t even get the correct issue fixed. Car died in the middle of the highway and found out it was just a $8.00 fuse that needed to be replaced. $200 for diagnostics is pretty ridiculous especially when they did’t even diagnose the actual issue that is causing your car to die while driving. Don’t go here unless you know what the issue with your car is because they will just find something expensive to “fix”.

Hi Michael, We’re truly sorry to hear about your recent experience and the frustration it caused. We understand how upsetting it is to have a car issue reappear, especially after investing in repairs. After reviewing your visit, we want to clarify a few things for the sake of transparency. Our team thoroughly diagnosed your vehicle and found that the stalling issue was caused by a faulty purge valve. This component was stressing the fuel pump, creating conditions that could lead to stalling and potential fuel pump damage—something we explained at the time of service. The repairs we performed were directly related to the symptoms your vehicle was exhibiting. Regarding the fuse: a blown fuse does not behave intermittently. If a fuse were the root cause, your vehicle would not have restarted after sitting. Since your vehicle was able to restart after a half-hour without any fuse replacement, we’re confident that the original diagnosis was accurate. It’s possible a separate issue has now developed, and we would have been more than willing to inspect it again at no cost had we been given the opportunity. We genuinely strive to look out for our customers’ best interests, which is why we discussed the potential for additional issues like the fuel pump and offered options accordingly. We regret that you left feeling disappointed and stranded—that was never our intention. Our door is always open if you'd like to talk further or have us recheck anything. We value your business and would love the opportunity to restore your confidence in us. Best regards, Philip Poe, Jack Dane Auto Service
